Read the full reviewIf you want a soft, plush, hotel-style pillow, these two are the default shortlist. The Casper Original is down alternative in a pillow-in-pillow construction; the Parachute Down Pillow is real European white down in three firmness levels. They photograph similarly and feel completely different under your head.
The honest framing: Casper is the lower-maintenance, lower-cost, vegan-friendly option. Parachute is the authentic down experience, with the care requirements and price that come with it.

How they feel
The Casper springs back. The down-alternative fibre compresses under your head and recovers the instant you move, so the pillow feels consistent all night with minimal reshaping. The outer chamber gives that first-touch softness and the inner core stops you bottoming out.
The Parachute sinks. Real down compresses much further and slowly moulds around your head, giving that floating, cloud-like feel people mean when they say hotel pillow. The trade-off is maintenance — it needs a morning fluff to recover its loft, every day.
Firmness and sleep positions
Parachute's three firmness levels are a real advantage. Stomach sleepers can get a genuinely thin soft version; side sleepers can get a firm version with meaningful loft. The Casper is one medium loft, which suits back and combination sleepers well and most side sleepers only adequately.
If you know your position and want the fill tuned to it, Parachute's options win. If you want one pillow that works reasonably for most positions, the Casper is simpler.
Care and ethics
The Casper is the easiest pillow in this comparison to live with — the whole thing goes in the machine. The Parachute is machine washable too, but down needs low heat, dryer balls, and patience to dry fully, and it clumps badly if you rush it. See our down vs down alternative guide for the full trade-off.
On ethics: the Parachute uses Responsible Down Standard certified down, but it is still an animal product. If that matters to you, the Casper is the choice.
Durability and value
Real down lasts. A well-cared-for down pillow holds its loft for five years or more; down alternative gradually mats and typically wants replacing around the two-to-three-year mark. So Parachute costs more up front and less per year of use — if you commit to the fluffing and the careful washing.
Choose the Casper Original if you want a low-maintenance, washable, springy pillow at a lower price — especially if you sleep in multiple positions or prefer a vegan fill.

Our verdict
The Casper Original is the better pillow for most people: cheaper, washable, consistent, and friendly to combination sleepers. The Parachute Down is the better pillow for anyone chasing the genuine down experience — the three firmness options make it the pick for stomach sleepers in particular.
