Pillow Deals: When to Buy

Pillows follow the mattress sale calendar almost exactly. This page explains when real discounts appear, how to tell a genuine one from a marked-up "sale", and links straight through to current pricing on our highest-rated picks.

The 2026 pillow sale calendar

Presidents' Day (February)

The first real mattress-and-bedding sale of the year. Discounts are moderate, but stock is full and bundles are common.

Memorial Day (late May)

One of the two biggest bedding events. Sitewide percentages from direct-to-consumer brands are usually at their yearly average or better.

Prime Day (July, and a second event in October)

The best window for Amazon-sold pillows specifically — adjustable foam, bamboo covers, knee and wedge pillows. Direct brands rarely match it.

Labor Day (early September)

Comparable to Memorial Day. Good time for premium foam and latex pillows as brands clear stock before the holiday season.

Black Friday / Cyber Monday (late November)

The deepest discounts of the year on premium brands, plus the widest bundle offers. If you can wait, this is the window to wait for.

January clearance

Smaller sitewide cuts but the best time for discontinued colours and last-generation models at real markdowns.

How to tell a real discount from a fake one

  • Check the price history, not the crossed-out number. A "was" price that only exists during sales is not a discount. Browser price-tracking extensions settle this in seconds on Amazon listings.
  • Bundles beat percentages on pillows. Two-packs and pillow-plus-case bundles are usually where the real saving is, because pillow margins are thin and brands prefer moving volume.
  • The trial period is worth more than 10% off. A pillow you can return after 100 nights at full price is a better purchase than a discounted one you are stuck with. Loft is the thing you cannot judge from a listing.
  • Never buy a used or open-box pillow. Unlike a mattress, the saving is small and the hygiene trade-off is not worth it.
  • Ignore countdown timers. Every major bedding sale runs again within about ten weeks. There is no pillow you need to buy in the next four minutes.
