Read the full reviewThese are the two adjustable pillows we recommend most for side sleepers, and they get to the same result by very different shapes. The Coop Original is a conventional rectangle stuffed with cross-cut shredded memory foam that you add or remove by the handful. The HoneyDew Scrumptious Side Pillow is a crescent-shaped pillow with a curve cut out for your shoulder and a hidden zip so you can dial the fill down.
The Coop is the stronger general-purpose pillow. The HoneyDew is the more specialised side-sleeping tool. Which one belongs on your bed depends on how strictly you sleep on your side.

The shoulder cutout is the whole story
HoneyDew's crescent shape exists for one reason: on your side, your shoulder is in the way of a conventional pillow. The cutout lets the shoulder drop past the pillow's edge so your head sits on the lofted part without your shoulder getting shoved up toward your ear. For side sleepers who wake with a numb arm or a compressed shoulder, that cutout fixes a real problem the Coop can only solve by adding fill height.
The Coop's answer is sheer height. At full fill it is one of the tallest pillows you can buy, and for broad-shouldered side sleepers it holds the ear-to-shoulder gap well. But the pillow edge still presses into the shoulder, which some sleepers notice and some never do.
If you move during the night
This is where the Coop wins comfortably. A rectangle works from every angle, and when you roll onto your back you can pull fill down to a back-sleeping loft over a few nights. The HoneyDew's cutout only makes sense in one orientation — on your back the curved edges are wasted, and on your stomach the pillow is unusable.
Combination sleepers who spend part of the night on their side can make the HoneyDew work, but strict side sleepers get the most from its shape.
Feel and cooling
The HoneyDew feels softer and springier — the copper-infused fill is lighter and less dense than the Coop's cross-cut foam, so it yields more on contact. The Coop is denser and more moldable; it holds a shape you push it into. Neither is a true cooling pillow, but the HoneyDew's lighter fill and Tencel cover sleep noticeably less warm in our overnight checks.
Value
The Coop is roughly half the price with a longer trial and cheap replacement fill — it is hard to beat on value. The HoneyDew's premium buys you the shoulder cutout, higher-end materials, and a more refined cover. If your shoulder is the problem, the premium is justified; if it is not, the Coop delivers most of the benefit for much less.
Choose the Coop Original if you sleep in more than one position, want the best value in an adjustable pillow, or want the option to re-tune your loft for years to come.

Our verdict
For most sleepers the Coop Original is the smarter buy: cheaper, longer trial, adjustable in both directions, and works from every position. For strict side sleepers whose shoulder is the sticking point, the HoneyDew Scrumptious Side Pillow is the better tool and worth its premium.
