MyPillow Premium Review

Interlocking fill is MyPillow's name for shredded, irregularly cut polyurethane foam. It behaves the way shredded foam always does: it moulds around your head, it can be punched into a shape that holds for a while, and it traps more heat than latex, down or a gel-panel pillow because air has to move through a dense tangle of foam chunks.

The important practical difference from most shredded-foam competitors is that the fill is sealed in — there is no zippered liner and no bag of spare fill. MyPillow's answer to loft is choosing the right level up front, which is why the brand publishes a fitting guide based on shirt size and sleep position rather than an adjustment routine.

MyPillow's own fitting guidance maps the colours roughly like this: yellow for petite frames, stomach sleepers and children or anyone used to a flat down pillow; white for average frames; green for larger frames and most side sleepers; blue for the broadest shoulders and the tallest loft.

Read that list again and you can see the weakness: shoulder width and sleep position both drive loft, and a single colour has to serve both. Combination sleepers who roll between back and side are the group most likely to end up between two levels with no way to split the difference.

Washability is the genuine strength here. MyPillow says the whole pillow — casing and fill — goes in the washer and the dryer, and recommends laundering roughly every four months (more often for allergy sufferers). Very few foam pillows can say that, and MyPillow's 10-year warranty explicitly covers laundering.

The trade-off shows up in owner reports across retailers: shredded foam that is washed and tumbled repeatedly tends to clump and lose height. Drying with a couple of tennis or dryer balls and breaking the clumps up by hand afterwards is the standard mitigation, and it is worth budgeting a full second dryer cycle so the core dries through.

At full list price the Premium sits close to genuinely adjustable shredded-foam pillows like the Coop Original, which ship with spare fill and a zippered liner. That comparison is where the Premium loses most: same fill family, less control, warmer sleep surface.

Where it wins is warranty length, domestic manufacturing, whole-pillow washability, and street price — MyPillow discounts aggressively with promo codes, and at the promotional prices the value equation changes considerably.

MyPillow's advertising has attracted regulatory and media scrutiny over health claims, and the company's founder is a politically polarising figure. Neither fact tells you how the pillow sleeps, so we have kept them out of the scoring — but treat any claim that a pillow cures a medical condition, from MyPillow or anyone else, as marketing rather than evidence.

Back, stomach and combination sleepers who know their loft, want a washable American-made pillow, and are buying at a promotional price.

Side sleepers with neck pain, hot sleepers, and anyone who would rather adjust loft over the first few weeks than commit to a level at checkout.
