The Linenspa Shredded Foam Reading Pillow is the budget entry point to backrest pillows — a straightforward, soft shredded-foam lounger with arms and a carry handle that costs roughly half what premium backrests do. It comes compressed in a box, fluffs up over a day or two, and does exactly one job: propping you up for reading or streaming.

We used it nightly for two weeks. The honest summary: it's comfortable and a genuinely good value, but it's softer and shorter than premium options, so it suits lighter lounging better than all-evening work sessions.

Should you buy it?

Yes — if you want a comfortable reading pillow for casual use at the lowest price that still holds its shape, the Linenspa is the value pick. Heavy daily loungers should step up to something taller and firmer.

Firmness and feel

This is the softest backrest in our roundup. The shredded foam is plush and giving — comfortable immediately, with none of the stiff break-in of firmer loungers. The trade-off is structure: lean back hard and it compresses rather than pushes back.

The plush cover is soft against skin and the whole pillow is light enough to move one-handed with the carry handle.

Back and arm support

For 30–60 minute reading sessions it's perfectly comfortable — the back supports the mid-back well and the arms hold a book's weight. Taller users will find the back ends around mid-shoulder, so there's no head or neck support; pair it with a bed pillow behind it if you want to lean your head back.

Over longer sessions the softness shows: we found ourselves re-fluffing and readjusting every hour or so. For casual evening reading that's fine; for working in bed all day it isn't.

Durability and care

Owner reports describe the fill settling slightly within the first couple of weeks, then recovering with a good shake — normal for shredded foam at this price. The cover is spot-clean only, which is the main care compromise versus pricier backrests with zip-off washable covers. A washable throw over the top solves it cheaply.
